WOKINGHAM Probus Club started 2026 with fun and games as members celebrated the New Year with their annual quiz.
Questions set by club secretary Geoff Ogston tested players’ general knowledge and word play skills.
The group meets monthly, and as participating in a book reading group, members can also enjoy theatre visits and afternoon tea outings.
Probus Clubs emphasise friendship, providing opportunities for retired or semi-retired professional and business people to meet socially.
Wokingham members can enjoy a monthly social gathering, with lunch and a talk on a subject of general interest.
Talks cover a wide range of topics, and are chosen to be informative and entertaining.
During 2026, members will be able to hear talks about Edward & Mrs Simpson, the Battle of Britain, 18th century theatrical scandal, and hypnotism.
Probus is not primarily a fund-raising body, but the Wokingham group does support one charity each year.
This year they will be supporting the Motor Neurone Disease Association at their February meeting.
Wokingham Probus meets on the first Wednesday of the month at Coppid Beech Hotel, Bracknell.
New members are always welcome, and are invited to join a monthly meeting by prior arrangement with the club’s secretary.
