A CHARITY in Reading is encouraging residents to take part in a marathon this May to raise funds for its work supporting children and families.
Parents and Children Together (PACT) is challenging keen runners and cyclists to go the distance in its Marathon in May initiative.
Participants are tasked with completing a total of 26.2 miles during the month of May, and can walk, cycle, run, or wheel the distance, either as individuals or in group.
The challenge is aimed at being flexible so that participants can work it around their schedules and break the distance down into manageable chunks.
Those taking part can also rank in the leaderboards and compete in multiple challenges.
Everyone who participates will receive an exclusive Marathon in May medal and a certificate, as well as access to an online service to track their progress and see their ranking.
All of the proceeds from the initiative will be used to fund the charity’s work supporting families going through adoption, therapeutic services, and support given to women and children affected by domestic abuse.
Natausha van Vliet, Chief Executive of PACT, said: “Marathon in May has been running for six years and we have had so many PACT families, staff and supporters taking part and raising funds for our work.
“It’s a fun and easy way for people of all ages and abilities to get out and about whilst supporting our important work – I hope even more people take on the challenge this year.

Marathon in May costs £15 per adult to register, which includes a welcome pack, a mileage tracker, and a tracking chart.
Children can take part for free alongside an adult, with extra medals available, and PACT makes provisions for those looking to raise further funds through the challenge.
