IF YOU were marooned on a lonely island, what books would console you until you were rescued?
This is the question that Wokingham Literary Society will be asking members at the group’s next meeting.
The society will present Desert Island Books, a twist based on the BBC Radio 4 show Desert Island Disks.
Event host John Andrew will ask two society members to share four books each that they would choose to be marooned with, if they were shipwrecked on a desert island, and the reasons for their choices.
From stories of ancient times, through modern romantic fiction, to scientific treatises, the event will throw a light on what books might pass the lonely days while waiting to be rescued.
Visitors are very welcome to Desert Island Books, which follows on from the society’s short AGM.
The event will take place at the Lecture Room, Wokingham Baptist Church, on Thursday, May 21,at 7.30pm.
