PUPILS from across Wokingham have been busy hand-crafting Christmas decorations.
Wokingham Town Council invited borough schools to help decorate the town’s Christmas tree, which will be on display in Market Place.
The annual tradition aims to celebrate creativity, sustainability, and the joy of coming together during the holiday season.
“It is always a heart warming occasion to be gifted these decorations our local school children have created,” said Cllr Barrie Callender.
“We hope that the whole town will enjoy seeing them on the tree in the centre of town throughout the month of December.”
This year, students have once again been challenged to think green, using recycled or repurposed materials in their designs.
Past creations have included old plastic plant pots turned into Christmas bells, papier-mâché baubles, and wreaths made from a range of upcycled items.
At the start of December, the Town Mayor will host an event to thank the participating schools and receive their handmade decorations.
The evening will feature Christmas songs from Saint Sebastian Wokingham Band, and refreshments served by 1st Winnersh Scout group.
Later in the week, the decorations will be displayed on Wokingham’s main Christmas tree.
The mayor will receive the decorations in the town centre Market Place, on Monday December 1 at 6pm.
