A woman has been given a suspended prison sentence after admitting shooting two cats with an air weapon in Winnersh.
Bozena Medland, 56, shot the animals in Woodward Close, Winnersh, over a period between 22 May and 1 June last year, Slough Magistrates’ Court heard.
Medland pleaded guilty to two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, as well as one count of firing an air weapon beyond the boundary of premises.
The court ordered her to pay £14,000 in veterinary costs, a rehabilitation order for 12 months, a deprivation order in relation to owning air rifles and imposed a 12-month custodial sentence, suspended for 18 months.
Thames Valley Police said it would investigate all reports of animal cruelty thoroughly and would not hesitate to bring offenders before the courts.
