A large industrial fire broke out in Bracknell yesterday, prompting emergency evacuations and warnings for nearby residents to keep windows and doors closed.
Emergency services were called to Peacock Lane at around 3pm on Monday following reports of a major blaze at the Daler-Rowney site.
Several residents reported hearing what they described as an explosion shortly before seeing the fire.
A significant emergency service presence remained at the scene as crews worked to bring the fire under control.
Residents living close to the incident were advised to avoid the area and keep windows and doors shut as a precaution because of smoke.
In a statement last night, officers said: “Firefighters remained at the scene of the fire on Peacock Lane, Bracknell, and continued working overnight to bring the incident under control.
“There is likely to be an emergency service presence in the area for some time, so we ask people to continue to avoid the area where possible.”
“As a precaution, some residents were evacuated for their safety.
“We would like to thank the local community, and everyone affected, for their understanding and patience during this time.
“Our crews are working hard to resolve the incident as quickly and safely as possible. A further update will be provided this morning.”
In a statement on Monday evening, Daler-Rownet said: “Earlier this afternoon, a fire took place at our factory in Bracknell.
All of our staff are safe.
“We are working hard to assess the situation and will share further updates in due course.
“We kindly ask that people keep away from the area to allow the fire brigade to continue their work. Thank you for your messages of support.”
