South Hill Park has announced a packed programme for children during the forthcoming half-term.
Comedy, music and storytelling awaits in The Giant Jam Sandwich on Saturday, February 16, from noon.
This is an adaptation of the much-loved children’s classic picture book by John Vernon Lord and Janey Burroway. Children can join the villagers of Itching Down in their giant sandwich-making plan to defeat four million wasps and help save the day.
This will be a delightful treat, suitable for children aged 3 -7 and their families who love musical theatre!
Parents looking for something fun and creative to help inspire the youngsters and unleash their creative potential can book them in for fun activities and workshops.
For budding artists, South Hill Park is running Play With Clay on Friday, February 22. Running from 10am to noon, this is suitable for children aged eight to 12.
And, for children aged four to 11, on Thursday, February 21, children can take part in Art Factory where they will spend the morning printing and badge-making with help from the expert tutor. Organisers say that children should be dressed for mess.
South Hill Park also has a cinema and during half-term there will be a feast of family films.
The new blockbuster hit film, Mary Poppins Returns (U), is being screened at 3pm on Saturday, February 16 and Sunday, February 17, and from 1pm on Wednesday, February 20.
Set in 1930s London, after the grown up Michael and his three children suffer a loss, Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt) returns to help the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives. A colourful, fun-filled musical for all ages.
For adventurous action-film fans there will be family-friendly screenings for Robin Hood (12A) on Thursday, February 21 from 1pm and Saturday, February 23 and Sunday, February 24 at 3pm.
The film tells the story of a war-hardened Crusader and a Moorish commander who mount a revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure film.
And South Hill Park is also booking places for its High School Musical Easter school.
Children aged seven to 17 can take part in the special production. Over five days, from Wednesday, April 17 to Monday, April 22, the students will be given expert tuition from theatre experts, learning all the moves and the songs and then appearing on the Wilde Theatre’s stage to present a performance that people can enjoy.
