CHARITY bosses are tickled pink at the support they are receiving from a Lower Earley supermarket.
A pair of bright sparks from Asda in Chalfont Close have dreamed up an eye-catching way to raise awareness of breast cancer: they’ve created special bra T-shirts.
Natalie Lambden – Asda Lower Earley’s community champion – and people trading manager, Samar Campbell were behind the scheme, which sees pink patterned bra designs embroidered over a plain white T-shirt.
The team brainstormed the designs which vary from garment to garment, including bras fashioned out of glitter, buttons and faux fur.
Natalie and Samar said that it was their way of showing support for Asda’s Be Your Breast Friend initiative, which aims to remind people to check their breasts regularly. It is part of the wider Tickled Pink charity campaign, which raises awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now.
Ms Lambden said: “We thought a bra image would be striking and get colleagues and customers talking while increasing donations and awareness of the Tickled Pink campaign.
“Customers were really intrigued.
“Breast cancer can be a very difficult subject to talk about, so the T-shirts became a talking point, and that led to us breaking the ice and having lots of honest conversations with customers about their experiences, and Tickled Pink too.”
Breast cancer is an issue particularly close to Natalie’s heart, as her aunt was diagnosed in the past.
She is now in remission, and Natalie is determined to help Asda raise money and awareness for such an important cause.
