ASCOT UNITED FC are planning their trip to Wembley Stadium after their penalty shootout heroics in the semi-final against Corsham Town.

The Yellas are just one game away from lifting silverware at the home of English football after they etched themselves into club history with their victory over Corsham.

A tense affair over 90 minutes saw the match drawn 2-2. Ascot scored the first goal of the cup tie through top scorer Brendan Matthew, but the hosts ensured the contest would go the distance when they went in front with two goals in the second-half.

The Yellas took the game to penalties when Rob Gerrard scored the equaliser in the 76th minute.

The shootout was full of drama and after five spot kicks each, the score was at 4-4 meaning it went into sudden death.

Corsham missed their first penalty of sudden death but Ascot crashed their penalty off the bar which meant the shootout continued.

After seven penalties each, the Yellas confirmed their place in the final with a 5-4 win on penalties.

The nail biting final penalty was converted by Sean McCormack to send his side through to Wembley

Ascot will play defending FA Vase champions Newport Pagnell Town on Sunday, May 21.

Newport also booked their place in the final with a penalty shootout win over Congleton which was their sixth shootout victory in the competition in the past two seasons.
