AN APPEAL for witnesses to a late-night assault outside Wokingham railway station has been launched by Thames Valley Police.
In a social media post, officers said they received a call about a woman who was being assaulted by a man.
Members of the public tried to intervene, and the attacker fled down Oxford Road. Police say he was heading in the general direction of St Paul’s Church.
The incident happened at 11.43pm on Friday, July 28 (Friday night going into Saturday morning), at the station’s area by Oxford Road.
They are now trying to trace the two people, who are thought to have come from a nearby pub.
The man is described as white, with blond hair. The woman is described as blonde and was wearing a blue dress.
Police said they made an extensive search, deploying a drone and calling on the public to help. They also knocked on doors, and checked CCTV, but they were unable to find either victim or attacker.
Now they are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who can help identify the two people, to get in touch, by calling 101, quoting reference 43230336559.
