RESIDENTS and team members at a Binfield care home celebrated a special milestone in the lives of Barbara and Graham.
The couple, residents of Farley Gardens Care Home, marked their 70th wedding anniversary.
Senior General Manager, Simona Cioinac said: “We are delighted to celebrate the occasion and share in such a meaningful moment.
“Congratulations to Barbara and Graham on an incredible 70 years of marriage.
“All of us at Farley Gardens wish you a wonderful day celebrating this very special milestone together.”
The couple first met many years ago in a small village in Northamptonshire at a Young Conservatives Christmas dance.
Reflecting on their early days together, Graham said their relationship quickly blossomed.
“We got married two years after meeting,” he remembered.
“It was a natural progression of our relationship.”
When asked about the secret to a long and happy marriage, Barbara smiled and said: “I wouldn’t say there was a recipe, but certainly friendship is a good start.”
Graham agreed, adding that sharing life side by side has been key.
“We’ve spent a lot of time together,” he said.
“We worked together all our lives and worked hard.
“We’ve travelled a lot and enjoyed cruises – we even went to Antarctica – you don’t see many people there, but there are lots of penguins.”
Barbara and Graham are proud parents to two children and grandparents to four grandchildren.
“We feel very lucky,” Graham said.

Their anniversary morning began with a sweet moment between the couple, when Barbara asked Graham if he knew what day it was, without hesitation, he replied: “Yes — it’s our wedding anniversary.”
The special occasion was marked with a celebratory cake, a card and flowers from the home to the happy couple.
