Plans for up to 28 homes on an already congested road are set to be given approval by Wokingham District Council tonight (Wednesday).
Its planning committee is set to approve an outline application for 28 dwellings on the 1.2 hectare site, currently being used as a builders’ yard, in Winnersh.
At least 11 of the new properties will be designated as being “affordable”.
The plans include associated landscaping and open space that will be created following the demolition of existing dwelling and outbuildings at 69 King Street Lane.
Numerous objections to the plans were received from local residents, with many citing existing traffic, noise and light pollution, and a lack of access to public transport.
A lack of space at local schools, and at doctors and dentists, were also mentioned.
Cllr Prue Bray and Cllr Paul Fishwick, council members for Winnersh, also registered their objections, as did the planning and transport committee of Winnersh Parish Council.
They wrote: “There are already significant traffic queues on King Street Lane during peak times.
“Further traffic created by this development will only intensify the situation.”
In 2017, an application for 38 homes on the same site was withdrawn before being considered by the planning committee.
