LARGE numbers of parked cars on a borough street have been causing headaches for drivers and locals in Twyford.
Commuters using Twyford Station have been leaving their cars for a number of months on Hurst Road, making it difficult for two vehicles to pass by.
One driver said: “Often more than 30 commuters’ cars are parked on weekdays on the A321 Twyford to Wokingham road, making it difficult for locals to squeeze down the road in a squashed two way traffic flow.
“At times the parking has stretched along Hurst Road at Twyford from just south of the Broadwater Road junction to well beyond the Broad Hinton junction.”
Twyford residents have approached Wokingham Borough Council to share their concerns, with one recently receiving a reply informing them that a request for yellow lines ‘has been approved and is going through the authorisation process’.
While a resolution appears to be in sight, there is as yet no confirmation of when that will be.
And yellow lines may not be a positive solution for everyone.
They are likely to alleviate the problem on Hurst Road, but nearby residents are concerned that drivers may be tempted to park, instead, in different residential streets.
The driver continued: “It’s difficult to know what the best solution might be to this problem.
“Installing yellow lines could impact local residents, but Hurst Road is currently difficult to negotiate, and there’s a sharp bend that makes it difficult to see what’s coming around the corner.”
