READING FC manager Ruben Selles has claimed that the club’s deal to sell Tom Holmes to Luton Town is a ‘good deal for everyone’.
The Royals are reported to have received around £400,000 for the defender who rejoins Reading on loan for the remainder of the season.
“I’m very happy for Tom, I think it’s a fantastic opportunity for him,” said Selles.
“I think during the season he had a very challenging period where he was not with us.
“Because of his mentality, his work ethic and desire to come back to the team, he overcame the situation.
“I expect him to be fully available for us for the rest of the season, doing his best for the club and then after that I wish him the best.”
“As we saw in the last 10 games, he came back to the team and he showed that he’s very important for us.
“He came back showing character, leadership and a lot of attributes.
“I think it’s a good deal. It’s a win-win for everyone involved.
“I’m happy for Reading, I’m happy for him and I think Luton also has got a good boy for their dressing room.”
Selles also confirmed that a bid from Luton for Nelson Abbey had been accepted, however a deal had not progressed due to personal terms between the player and the club.
He continued: “I had a conversation with him after the club had accepted bids for him.
“That one didn’t move further in the terms of Nelson making a decision so I will paly him until something further happens.”
Selles also explained that there has been interest for other members of his squad, but the valuation for them has not been met.
He said: “When we talk about interest it can be somebody has interest, but it is nowhere near what they are worth.
“There have been apooraches because we have a good group of young players, but there is nothing to comment.”
