Wokingham’s new member of parliament said he’s been swamped with letters and emails since taking up his new role last month.
Clive Jones told Wokingham Today he’s received many thousands of emails, letters and messages in the past four weeks.
He estimated that at least 2,000 of the communications will require a reply or action of some kind.
He is currently in the middle of a recruitment exercise that, once completed, will see him establishing a team.
He said he will be employing the equivalent of four full-time roles, although some will be part-time positions.
That process will not be a quick one.
He explained: “New staff will need to undergo vetting, and with every other MP recruiting at the same time, it could be three months before that process has been completed.”
He urged constituents to continue to contact him, although he urged patience given the sheer number of matters requiring his attention.
