A WOKINGHAM pub has reopened after receiving a £300,000 makeover from Greene King Pub Partners.

The Six Bells’ transformation will see visitors enjoy a new dedicated sports area, private hire space and upgraded beer garden. Sunday Roast and cocktails will also now be served.

Current licensees Sachin Singh and Sunil Sharma will continue operating the pub, having successfully run the business since 2018.

They said: “This is a really exciting time for us and the local community of Shinfield. We will continue to serve our great North Indian food and beer as we are known for. But we will also be expanding our hospitality to include Sunday Roasts, cocktails and an improved experience for watching the sport.

“We now also have a private hire venue space for community events, weddings, birthday parties and more. Our expanded and upgraded beer garden also means we are the perfect place to enjoy a drink in the sun this summer.

“We look forward to welcoming both our regulars and new customers back to our new look pub.”

The significant investment has been used to expand the pub and upgrade its facilities, allowing it to host pub goers for private hire events, lunch and dinner, sports fixtures and catch-up drinks.

The pub’s extension will be used to cater for events such as weddings, corporate events and birthday parties.

The outside seating area has been greatly expanded with a new, high specification pavement, doubling its capacity from 100 to 200 spaces. The beer garden has also been re-turfed and now has a play area for children to enjoy.

Inside, the whole interior has been refurbished, with all new seating, tables and lighting enhanced by a new layout to further increase the pub’s capacity.

The new sports area has been incorporated into the new set-up, and will show live sports events from Sky Sports, BT Sport and Amazon Prime on high-definition screens.

Famed for its freshly-cooked North Indian cuisine featuring dishes such as chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh and chicken vindaloo, the pub will now begin serving a carvery-style Sunday roast for the first time.

A cocktail machine has also been installed at the pub to expand its drinks range, enabling customers to order an array of 18 different crafted cocktails and mocktails including mojitos, margaritas and espresso martinis.

Mr Singh and Mr Sharma will be introducing new events and theme nights at the pub, including Bollywood night and a regular quiz night.

Graeme Marley, business development manager for Green King Pub Partners, said: “I am delighted with our £300,000 investment in The Six Bells, which is also an investment in Sachin, Sunil and their team who have successfully operated this pub for the last five years.

The significant upgrades to the pub mean it is a really exciting time for the local community.”
