The March Violets – Hammer The Last Nail – This band, who were formed in Leeds in the early 80’s as part of the post punk scene showed what an exciting live band they still are when they played at Reading Face Bar last year. If you missed that, don’t worry, they are back again on 24th July as part of a tour in support of their new album, ‘Crocodile Promises’ which is released in a few weeks time. Here’s a single from the album and it’s a good one – great vocals over a wonderfully goth like groove which certainly suggests that the album is going to be well worth checking out – https://linktr.ee/marchvioletsband
Cast – Faraway – Here’s another classic band coming to visit the area. This time it’s one that emerged as part of the brit pop scene. With their 60’s tinged melodic indie sound they had some big hits in the 90’s and this year they released a new album called, ‘Love Is The Call’. This song is taken from that album and shows that the band certainly hasn’t lost the knack of writing great songs. This one has a wonderful uplifting feel with great vocals and musicianship and certainly stands up extremely well alongside those 90’s hits. What a brilliant headliner for the Saturday night at Fi-Fest in Fifield on July 13th – http://www.castband.co.uk/
Sonic Whip – Blue Skies – It’s another band coming to visit the area! Not a classic band from the past like the above but one that could well be considered a classic band in the future if they keep coming up with tracks as good as this one! It’s very well produced with wonderful vocal harmonies, a strong melody and great playing including a cool guitar solo and a gradual build to a climatic ending. Great stuff! This young exciting three piece will be coming from the Netherlands to headline the second stage of Wokingham Festival on August 26th Bank Holiday Monday – https://www.sonicwhipband.com/
Gemma Rogers – Coming for the Top – A great single from the extremely talented artist that we went along to see recently supporting Paolo Nutini at one of the On The Mount At Wasing shows. What a brilliant performance it was – https://linktr.ee/gemmarogersmusic
Echo Chambers – Empty Words – A very topical political song from the Reading band’s excellent new EP, ‘Versificator’ – https://www.facebook.com/echochambersrdg
Grace Pounds – Bloodstream – If you are at Readipop (12-14 July) check Grace out. She is also at Wokingham Festival in August – https://www.facebook.com/GracePoundsMusic
Echobelly – Scream – It’s one of the best bands that came out of the 90’s and they will be closing Readipop on Sunday 14th July so don’t miss that – https://www.echobelly.com/
Masquerader – Pressure (Holy Trinity Cut) – Reading based Masquerader fizzing with energy on their ‘Nothing Will Change’ EP – https://linktr.ee/Masquerader
