Ahead of Thursday’s opening of the new Sainsbury’s supermarket in Arborfield Green, Wokingham borough council has granted temporary permission for extended delivery times.
The supermarket had sought permission “.. to enable fresh food deliveries ahead of the store opening each day.”
The amendment was sought to allow for a slightly longer delivery window, from 6.30am until 11pm – an extra 30 minutes in the morning.
In its application, it noted: “The service yard / unloading bay area of the site is within relatively close proximity of existing residential development, and Meadow House (Cook Way) in particular.
“Temporary permission is therefore sought for a period of six months to allow the Local Planning Authority to monitor the impact of a longer / earlier delivery window. “
Opening hours for the supermarket will be from 7am until 10pm on Mondays to Saturdays’ and between 10am and 4pm on Sundays.
Delivery hours are from 6.30am until 11pm, with the extra 30 minutes granted by council officers until February 28, 2026.
