THE CAVERSHAM in Reading and home of Reading Golf Club is once again hosting a bumper fundraiser in aid of charity on Wednesday, June 21.
During the longest day of the year, Jason MacBeth will attempt 100 holes of golf at the course in Mapledurham in order to raise vital funds for Reading Family Aid.
He will start at dawn (around 4.30am) and finish at around 10pm, walking more than 30 miles during the course of the day and playing the equivalent of around 5 full 18-hole rounds, plus 10 extra holes.
He’ll be joined by the club’s Ladies’ Captain, Hilary Rusby, who will also attempt 65 holes during the course of the day, as well as receiving a visit from Club Captain Cathy Jones.
It is the sixth time Mr Macbeth has taken part in the annual summer solstice fundraiser in aid of the club’s chosen charity.
Reading Family Aid provides support for children in Reading living in poverty, or in families affected by drug-taking and alcoholism, abuse, illness, or disability.
The charity is celebrating 30 years of providing this support this year.
