EMMBROOK AND BEARWOOD’s journey in the national rounds came to an end after they were soundly beaten by Goatacre.
The Bears ensured that they reached the national rounds of the competition when they got the better of Wraysbury in the Berkshire cup final.
However, their hopes of reaching the final at Lords were ended on Sunday at Lowther Road.
Emmbrook won the toss and elected to bat first. The first wicket came with just one run on the board when Harry Ramsey was caught out by Jacob Stevenson, bowled Conor Taylor.
The Bears managed to recover from that shaky start to get a healthy total on the board before the next wicket fell with the partnership of Matt Loxton and Greg Davis who managed to help the team to 49.
The next two wickets came in quick succession which saw Emmbrook on 63-4.
A strong total in the middle order from Jason Middleton saw him hit 27, which made him Emmbrook’s highest scorer as they were eventually all out on 123 from 35.3 overs.
With 124 to catch to progress, Goatacre ensured they captured the win within just 15.2 overs.
Emmbrook did manage to take the wicket of Ross Dixie with Goatacre on 21 which saw Middleton take the catch, bowled Toby Morgan.
The next wicket saw Matt Booth catch out Toby Horton, bowled Andy Lazenbury with the visitors on 67-2.
That proved to be the final wicket of the innings which meant that Goatacre confirmed victory with eight wickets to spare.
BCM Championship
EMMBROOK AND BEARWOOD are just one point off the top after they took victory against WEST READING.
The Bears batted first and built a huge total at the middle through Greg Davis (97) and Jack Narraway (62) who contributed greatly to Emmbrook’s score of 230-9 from 45 overs.
A strong showing in the middle order from West Reading saw Usman Tariq (43), Adam Davidson (36) and Arsalan Shaani Ahmed (31) helped the visitors put up a fight.
However, four wickets from Davis and two each from Tom Stevenson and Andy Lazenbury secured a triumph for Emmbrook who had West Reading all out on 161 to seal a 69-run success.
