AT THEIR AGM, members of Great Langborough Residents’ Association (GLRA) welcomed new chair, Ken Smith.
Outgoing chair Pat Smith (no relation), was warmly thanked for her 12 year term of leadership.
During a period of change, she has facilitated meetings for residents to understand and question council plans and decisions, and has encouraged comment on planning development in the area.
She has earned the respect of fellow committee members for her persistence and patience and her leadership of the group has been appreciated by council members.
Recently the GLRA carried out a survey of its 650 households in order to understand what ambitions its residents had for the association.
Results from the survey indicating the key visions were presented at the meeting.
Main speaker of the evening was Chris Easton, assistant director of Highways and Transport for Wokingham Borough Council, who came to answer some of the many questions from members about the progress of the South Western Distributor Road.
Following a lively discussion, it was clear that residents would like greater communication on changes with the road roll-out and its impact, during and after the work.
GLRA welcomes enquiries from local residents to join the group.
