Wokingham town council has warned people about falling victim to fake event bookings.
Katy Hughes, town clerk, told Wokingham Today how the council had been made aware of a social media post which claimed to be offering stalls at its forthcoming Lunar New Year event.
She said the post, which has since been reported and removed, appeared to be wanting stallholders for the event.
She said how any stall bookings for town council events would only be made and confirmed through an official wokingham-tc.gov.uk email address.
She asked that anyone who is unsure if they have fallen victim to the scam, or spots any other dubious adverts for town council events, to contact the town council at [email protected].
