Wokingham and East Berkshire Camera club members have been inspired by two of their fellow members who have won recognition in the national Landscape Photographer of the Year competition. They are eagerly looking forward to showing their own prints in the club’s first major Photographic Exhibition.
The free entry exhibition is in the main hall of the Town Hall in central Wokingham. The opening times are: Thursday May 11, 12.00 to 16.00, Friday May 12 10.00 to 16.00, and Saturday May 13 10.00 to 16.00. It will comprise over 150 large prints from forty enthusiastic club members who have chosen to show up to four each of their favourite images at the exhibition.
Club members enjoy a wide variety of photographic genres and styles of photography, many of which may be on show at the exhibition; these include street and people photography, landscapes and seascapes, architecture, nature and wildlife, travel, action and sport and close-ups among others.
Club Chairman Glynis Jodrell said: “Our members’ photographic skills have vastly improved in recent years. We enjoy showing our pictures to each other at club meetings and in club competitions but we thought it would be great if we could share some of our best pictures with members of the public of Wokingham.
“We have two members who have been successful in the national Landscape Photographer of the Year competition. Matthew Cattell was the overall winner of the competition, and Martin Pickles achieved a highly commended. Both photographers will be exhibiting their winning prints as well as other impressive photos.”
Wokingham and East Berkshire Camera Club is a successful local club of over 90 keen photographers, at all levels of ability. The club involves itself in local community and charitable events whenever possible. They have been the official photographers for the Wokingham Bikeathon and the Wokingham in Bloom project and have provided all the photographs to Wokingham District Cancer Care Trust for their 2015 and 2016 charity Calendars. One of the club’s members volunteers as the photographer for the Sue Ryder Trust.
