Kelly Chambers says Fara Williams “thoroughly deserves” her Women’s Super League player of the month award for October.
The 33-year-old has been in scintillating form since arriving from Arsenal in the summer, playing in a more advanced attacking role and is Reading’s top scorer this campaign.
And her performances in October included a goal of the season contender with a 25-yard volley in the 3-0 win at Liverpool.

Williams fought off competition from Magdalena Eriksson (Chelsea) and Jane Ross (Manchester City) to win the first ever award of this kind.
“Fara has been fantastic since she’s come in,” Royals boss Chambers told The Wokingham Paper.
“She’s played a lot of football in the last couple of weeks, which her body is not used to.
“She’s come in, she wants to learn, she wants to get better even at the age she is and she’s taking every challenge we’ve thrown at her on board and you can see the results of that.
“She thoroughly deserves player of the month.”
Selected as the victor by a media panel, England international Williams added: “I feel I’ve performed well, as the whole team have.
“We’ve hit a really good vein of form and things are really starting to click as a squad and that’s credit to Kelly, Phil (Cousins, assistant manager) and all the girls for working so hard in training.
“But yes, for me I’m really happy to have helped the team pick up points in the last two months.”
