A LOWER Earley residential home has been celebrating World Health Day with exotic fruits.
Staff and residents at Barchester’s Austen House care home took part in a range of different activities to promote good health, including a healthy eating masterclass, talking about the importance of doing regular exercise, and a walk around the garden.

The group enjoyed tasting fresh fruits, including exotic varieties that some residents hadn’t tried before.
Residents chatted about the different textures and flavours, and guessed from which part of the world the fruits had come from.

General Manager, Simona Cioinac, said: “Our residents had a brilliant time today.
“They really enjoyed taking part in sensory and relaxing activities, and fun games designed to improve and stimulate their physical health, as well as their mental wellbeing.”

World Health Day aims to shine a light on the benefits of good health and wellbeing, around the world.
Its theme this year is: My Health, My Right, as the World Health Organisation highlights the need for all people everywhere to have access to quality health services.
