NO CHILD should have to miss out on a school trip or activity due to lack of funds, says a local charity.
Teachers and club organisers aware of any child whose financial circumstances make it difficult for them to take part in extra-curricular activities are urged to contact Wokingham United Charities.
The grant giving organisation wants to make sure that no child has to turn down the chance to participate due to lack of financial support.
Their Brighter Futures Fund is designed to help children from lower income households access the same opportunities as their classmates, and can be requested to help with school trips, club membership, sports equipment, instrument rental purchase and participation fees.
Amy Garstang, manager at Wokingham United Charities, said: “School trips, clubs and other activities help young people make the most of the opportunities available to them through school.
“Young people shouldn’t have to miss out because of a financial situation they or their families often have no control over.
“This fund aims to bridge the gap, providing access to enriching activities that are integral to their growth and development.”
Families can’t apply directly, but can ask their school or club to apply for a grant for their child on their behalf.
