PEOPLE with a passion for unity will be serving lunch with a difference this month.
But diners will need to be quick, because places must be booked by December 6.
Together with St Nicolas Church, Earley, and the Fellowship Educational Society, The Reading Dialogue Society is organising a food and conversation event.
Its annual Christmas Community Lunch is part of a UK wide project organised by London-based Dialogue Society.
The charity was formed in 1999 to promote community through social connections, and promotes Christmas lunches up and down the country.
The theme of its meals this year is Peace and Unity.
In a world marked by increasing divisions, say organisers, guests at its events will find mutual respect and understanding, within a space where everyone can feel heard, valued, and part of a wider community.
There will be speakers, refreshments, networking opportunities, a quiz, and opportunities to enjoy conversations with a diverse group of people.
Lunch is free, but donations are welcomed to support Talking Bubble Project, a UK-wide telephone befriending service for individuals in need of social support.
The event takes place at St Nicolas Church, Sutcliffe Avenue, on Saturday, December 9.
Doors are open from 2pm until 4.30pm.
Anyone wishing to attend should email, by Wednesday, December 6, to : [email protected]
