Residents across Wokingham Borough saw familiar streets and open spaces transformed today as snow fell through the morning, gradually settling as the day went on.
This picture gallery brings together scenes from across the borough, showing the town under a blanket of snow as the wintry weather developed through the late morning and early afternoon.
Snow began falling during the morning hours, at times heavy enough to quickly coat cars, rooftops and pavements. As temperatures stayed low, the snow started to settle, turning parks, gardens and quieter residential roads white within a short space of time.
In Wokingham town centre, the snowfall gave the streets a muted feel, while in areas including Woodley, Earley, Winnersh and Finchampstead, residents shared images of snow-covered lawns, hedges and local landmarks. Open spaces and countryside on the edge of the borough were among the most striking scenes, with fields and footpaths disappearing beneath a layer of fresh snow.
The conditions also brought travel challenges. Drivers are urged to take care as snow compacted on untreated roads, creating slippery surfaces, particularly on side streets and rural routes. Wokingham Borough Council said gritters were operating on priority roads but warned that some routes could remain hazardous.
Temperatures remained close to freezing into the afternoon, allowing the snow to linger in many areas. Forecasters warned that icy conditions could develop later, especially after dark.
For many, however, the snowfall provided a brief pause from the routine and a chance to capture Wokingham Borough at its most wintry.
