Wokingham racing driver Bobby Trundley has secured international success after taking a race win at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium – one of the world’s greatest and most iconic circuits.
Bobby is a driver for Team BRIT – the world’s only competitive team of all-disabled racing drivers. Bobby was diagnosed with severe autism as a child and is now one of the most successful autistic racing drivers in the world. This year he has returned to the team for the 7th consecutive year and has been competing in the Britcar Endurance Championship driving a McLaren 570S GT4.
On Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May, Bobby and his teammate Aaron Morgan took part in rounds 3 and 4 of the championship. Aaron is a paraplegic following a motocross accident and uses the team’s hand control technology to race against able-bodied drivers
After a productive day of testing in the sunshine on Thursday, the weather caused complete changes to race plans, with torrential rain on Saturday morning, making for a challenging start to the weekend.
As conditions improved, so did their pace. On Saturday, Bobby secured pole in qualifying before taking P3 overall, matching their best ever result at Spa two years ago.
Sunday saw even more progress. Bobby put the McLaren in pole position during qualifying, before converting this into an outright victory in the race.
Bobby was diagnosed with severe autism as a young child, and soon found that motorsport had a profound impact on the way he manages the challenges of the condition. He discovered karting at the age of 10, having been invited to a karting birthday party and his talent was clear from the outset. He was a 5 x national karting champion before joining Team BRIT in 2019, and has gone on to compete in GT4 racing in iconic tracks across the UK and overseas.

Bobby said: “I think Spa and I go together like food and a fine wine! I absolutely love the place!
“We had unbelievable pace all weekend and the McLaren was fantastic. The crew did an amazing job to prepare it to perfection.
“Getting pole in qualifying for both races, a podium in race 1 and winning race 2, meant the absolute world. Aaron and I work extremely well together and it showed in the results!
“I was also so happy to be as fast as the Dutch GT3 cars! That was the shock for me!”
Bobby and Aaron are now changing championship and moving over to the GT Cup. Their next race is on the 19th and 20th September at Brands Hatch.
