The Bull at Barkham pub is set to reopen later this year, with experienced Wokingham landlords at the helm.
Anita and TomMcNelly, landlords at The White Horse on Easthampstead Road, are set to take over at the Stonegate pub when they depart from the White Horse in the autumn.
The mother and son team have hit the headlines in recent months following roadworks in the town that meant their pub was virtually inaccessible.
Speaking exclusively to Wokingham Today as The White Horse was named as the second-best pub in Wokingham in a competition organised by Wokingham MP Clive Jones, Tom revealed his plans for The Bull at Barkham.
He said: “We are planning to do pretty similar things to what we’ve done at the White Horse.
“It’s going to be definitely more of a food pub, and more of a traditional country pub.
“I’m also hoping we can bring events to the pub in the summer.”
A spokesperson for Stonegate told Wokingham Today: “We are currently carrying out some repair works to ensure The Bull is in the best possible condition for guests ahead of reopening.
“We are making good progress and hope to welcome guests back soon.”
The Bull at Barkham, a Grade-II listed building, has been closed for months.
