A WOODLEY school is delighted to announce that it has achieved the highly prestigious OPAL Platinum Award.
Willow Bank Infant School received the honour in recognition of its outstanding commitment to improving play opportunities for children.
The award reflects years of dedication, creativity and hard work from staff, pupils and the wider school community in transforming playtimes into rich, inclusive and engaging experiences that support children’s wellbeing, confidence and development.
Following a recent final assessment visit, the school received glowing feedback from its OPAL mentor Nancy Low, who praised the ‘time, effort and dedication’ invested in improving play at Willow Bank and described the school environment as inspiring and joyful.

The Platinum Award is the highest level of recognition within the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) programme and is only achieved by schools demonstrating exceptional practice and a deep commitment to children’s play.
Headteacher Mrs Taylor-Dickens, Willow Bank Infant School staff and pupils are immensely proud of the achievement and grateful to everyone who has supported the journey, including families, governors and the local community.
The school looks forward to continuing to build on this success and ensuring that every child at Willow Bank benefits from high-quality, meaningful play every day.
