RESIDENTS will be able to take part in an environmental information and activities week this month.
Organised by Woodley Town Council, a Climate Action Week in the town aims to encourage, inspire, and empower people to make a positive contribution to the environment.
Together for Tomorrow: Local Action, Global Impact – Be The Change.
This is the title of the free week-long event, with all activities taking place in Woodley.
Woodley Town Council says it is a call to action for the whole community.
During the week, people will be able to take part in activities that promote community spirit, encourage creativity, inspire, and engage.
They will be able to discover how local efforts can make a lasting difference on a global scale, and that they, themselves, can be part of the change that makes a difference.
A community litter pick, a pre-loved charity fashion show, walks, bike marking sessions and repairs, a recycled art workshop, and a repair shop are just some of the activities on offer.
And for those wanting a clear explanation of the key science and facts behind global warming, Professor Chris Merchant from the University of Reading will give an illustrated talk, followed by an opportunity to ask questions.
A series of rolling short documentaries and films, suitable for all ages, will also explore climate change, and children will also be able to connect with the environment through a free Eco Nature Hunt.
The event launches on Saturday, November 15, with different activities taking place in Woodley, every day, through to Friday, November 21.
Some activities need to be pre-booked, so people should check online.
