Housebuilder David Wilson Homes has continued its ongoing relationship with California Gardeners’ Club with a £250 donation to fund a programme of professional speakers for its members.
The donation follows recent activities with the gardening club at David Wilson Homes’ Finchwood Park development, where the club supported local Brownies in creating hanging baskets as part of its No Mow May campaign.
Using pollinator friendly plants recommended by California Gardeners’ Club, including geraniums, African daisies, fuchsias and lobelias, the Brownies worked with members of the club to create the floral displays.
California’s Gardeners Club was established in 1965 and provides members with a social and informative session each month, hosting a variety of speakers that cover topics from gardening to the natural world.
Previous talks have subjects such as covered lawns, fuchsias, propagation of house and bedding plants to name but a few.
The donation forms part of the housebuilders’ ongoing commitment to ecology and working with community groups supporting pollinator species and the local environment.
Richard Hawes, chairman of California Gardeners’ Club, said: “Over the years, we have invited a variety of speakers to our meetings to inspire our members and provide insights into growing a range of flowers and plants.
“With the cost of professional speakers increasing significantly, this donation from David Wilson Homes will go towards the booking of quality speakers, ensuring our members and visitors not only enjoy their evening with us but also learn from their visit.”
