AN ARBORFIELD community event made a triumphant comeback last weekend as residents were reminded of the creative talent which exists in the area.
After several cancellations due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the Covid-19 pandemic, Arborfield’s Village Show returned and treated visitors to exhibits of submissions made for the 12 available categories.
The art category was won by Sarah Fitchet, with Amelia Hedley and Eli Kuscu claiming top spot in the five-11 and 11-16 age divisions. Bertie Uprichard and Julia Soos-Eary earned prizes in the children’s ‘making’ competitions.
John Cornish came out on top in the photography division, while Judy Stevens, Tony Dance and Wendy Edminson won the needlecraft, woodcraft and cookery prizes.
The outdoor awards for garden produce and potted plants were collected by Max Edwards and Sheila Bunce.
Of the event, organiser Paul Stevens said: “We had a good response to the Village Show, which was heartening given that we had to cancel last year due to the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II, and for several years before that due to the pandemic.
“We raised £48.50 from visitors and entries, £28 from refreshments, with a total of 52 visitors.
“My special thanks to Val and Trev Milam, June and Barrie Mann, Margaret and David Edwards, Lorna Parker, Richard Percy, Janet Hooper and all those who helped on the day to make it happen.”
