Improvements to South Hill Park and a plan to build new homes on the greenbelt feature in this week’s Bracknell and Wokingham planning round up.

Bracknell Forest Council: 24/00595/LB
A new air conditioning system will be installed at South Hill Park, Bracknell, after plans were approved by Bracknell Forest Council.
Approval by the planning authority was required as the building at South Hill Park is Grade II listed.
A committee report says the air conditioning unit is ‘no longer functional’ and will be replaced in the same location.
Planning officers considered the change would not have detrimentally harmed the status of the listed building which serves as a music and events hub in Bracknell.
Wokingham Borough Council: 243229
Plans to build eight new homes in Wargrave have been submitted to Wokingham Borough Council.
Palatine Homes would like to build eight homes at 109 Victoria Road, Wargrave, following the demolition of buildings at Victoria Nurseries.
Developers want to build seven three-bed homes and a one-bedroom flat.
The area is close by to a convenience store, doctors surgery and pharmacy, Piggot Primary School and Twyford Railway station, making it a suitable location for new homes, plans argue,
The plans have been validated by Wokingham Borough Council and a decision is yet to be made.
Bracknell Forest Council: 23/00395/FUL
A bid to build a home on green land off Shurlock Row has been refused by the council for a second time.
Mr Richard Falk wanted to build a home on land adjacent to 43 Mare Lane, Beenhams Heath, Shurlock Row, which crosses the border between Bracknell Forest and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
The first application was refused in April 2023. The second application, submitted by ET Planning, said that the home would not have an ‘adverse effect on the character of the area’.
But the plans were refused again by Bracknell Forest Council.
In it’s decision notice, Bracknell Forest Council wrote that ‘no very special circumstances exist which clearly outweigh the harm to the greenbelt’, prompting refusal.
Wokingham Borough Council: 250010
Wokingham Borough Council would like to create an assisted living accommodation on London Road.
The house is on a key route into Wokingham town centre.
As well as a change of use, the council would like to build a two-storey extension to the side of the property and a single-storey extension following the demolition of the garage.
The plans have been validated by the council’s planning department and a decision is pending.
