A new cohort of councillors has taken their seats at Wokingham Borough Council following the latest elections, bringing fresh energy, varied experience and differing political priorities to the chamber.
From first-time representatives to returning figures, the intake reflects a mix of local roots, professional backgrounds and wider life experience shaping how they approach the borough’s future.
Mohima Bose (Liberal Democrat)
A primary school teacher representing Barkham and Arborfield, Mohima Bose is focused on sustainability and community. Backing solar farms in the area, she pointed to rising energy costs and environmental pressures.
She said: “We need to preserve natural resources… we’re all in it together.”
Leon Cook (Conservative)
Newly elected in Thames ward, Leon Cook arrives with clear political ambition and a background in communications. A regular at council meetings before his election, he has already highlighted the strain national policy places on local planning.
He said: “The trouble we have… is national housing targets.”

Chris Johnson (Liberal Democrat)
Returning to the council in Spencer’s Wood and Swallowfield, Chris Johnson combines local government experience with a career in engineering and service in the RAF. His work spans from scrutiny roles to hands-on involvement during the Falklands conflict.
He said: “You’re going to put a load of equipment on board.”

David Bragg (Conservative)
Also elected in Thames ward, David Bragg brings a long connection to Woodley and experience as the town’s former mayor. With a background in finance, he emphasises his personal investment in the area.
He said: “I’m passionate about what happens here.”

Roberta Brooks (Liberal Democrat)
Representing Wokingham Without, Roberta Brooks offers an international perspective, having grown up in Rio de Janeiro. Locally, she has already built a reputation for diligence and community focus.
She said: “You can visit the Christ the Redeemer statue by tram, by foot or by cycle.”
Richa Singh (Liberal Democrat)
In Evendons, Liberal Democrat Richa Singh has also been elected, and Council leader Stephen Conway was looking forward to having her on board.
He said: “Richa is an excellent addition to the Lib Dem group. We will benefit from her background in education and business.”
Together, the new intake reflects both continuity and change, as Wokingham Borough Council begins its next chapter with a blend of fresh voices and experienced hands.
