YOUNG Jonah Gordon-Walker has written a report following his Cub group’s presentation of Christmas gifts for local homeless people.
The nine year old was inspired by the event to publish an invitation to the borough to support the Cubs in their mission to provide warm clothes and essentials for Wokingham’s Salvation Army.
Jonah says: “1st Arborfield Cubs have been busy preparing gifts and cards for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Day lunch.
“They delivered them to Wokingham’s Salvation Army Church on Sturges Road.
“They bought new warm socks and painted festive cards and bags to bring some extra Christmas cheer to local homeless people.
“The Salvation Army hall provides meals, essential clothes and toiletries along with support and advice for people in need.
“The Cubs really enjoyed collecting and wrapping the gifts and hope they bring some happiness.
“The Salvation Army is always in need of donations.
“You can help too! They especially need: adult socks, underwear and toiletries for both men and ladies.
“Coats are mostly needed in sizes small and medium.”
Many thanks to Jonah for his well-written article, and for highlighting this community need.
We look forward to receiving further news reports from him about the Cubs’ community activities.
1st Arborfield Cubs, Beavers and Scouts meet at The Coombes CE Primary School.
