A spate of burglaries where high value pieces of Asian gold have been stolen from homes has led to the police issue a warning for homeowners to protect their valuables.
We have previously reported on a string of thefts across the borough, now Thames Valley Police has released details of three further burglaries that took place within neighbouring Bracknell Forest.
Two properties in Binfield and another in Great Hollands were burgled on Saturday, January 13.
As with the thefts we reported on Friday, the offenders gained entry through the rear of the properties.
A range of high value pieces of Asian gold jewellery were stolen from each address.
Thames Valley Police said that the three incidents are believed to be linked.
Investigating officer, Clare Hickman based at the Loddon Valley Investigation Hub, said: “Following our investigations into a number of recent burglaries, we are advising residents in the Bracknell and Wokingham areas to secure any Asian gold they may have at home.
“All high value jewellery should be secured in a hidden safe. You should be discrete when wearing expensive jewellery in public, and be cautious about showing any valuable items on social media.
“Make sure that your jewellery is properly insured, and photograph each piece being worn to prove that it belongs to you.”
The burglaries in the borough have taken place across Winnersh, Earley, Woodley and Wokingham and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward to help them catch the thieves who are thought to be using an Audi RS3.
They are linking these incidents, which saw locks targeted by either snapping or smashing the lock case to remove the lock, mainly on rear doors. The houses are searched thoroughly, including going in the loft, removing bath panels and also ripping out security lights.
