Business owners are being urged to be careful after a spate of scam Wedding Fayre posts appeared on social media this week.
The posts are appealing for stall holders at an event at Cantley Park on August 15 and August 16.
Enquiries by Wokingham Today to Wokingham borough council and Cantley House Hotel confirmed no such event exists, with the latter saying they had been made aware of the scam.
The scam asks potential stallholders to complete a detailed form, and pay £70 per day for the event.
Similar scams have also appeared recently in local community groups, including for a Summer Fayre event in Winnersh.
