DAVID MILLNER has left Bracknell Bees.
The two-way forward only arrived at the club in October following a successful trial, where he replaced the outgoing Niko Suoraniemi.
Millner, 26, previously spent his whole playing career in his native Sweden, but did not play any ice hockey last year following a move to London to study.
He was snapped up by Bracknell to boost the defence having played his most recent seasons at the back and made a good initial impression, but he has now left the club.
“I’d like to thank David for his time with the Bees,” said head coach Doug Sheppard.
“But we’ll be looking to bring in a new import over the next few weeks to give us our best shot at a strong finish on the run-in.
“I’ve arranged for David to sign with another British club and expect he’ll make his debut for his new team this weekend.”
On the ice, it was mixed fortunes for Bracknell at the weekend.
They cruised past rock-bottom Invicta Dynamos 5-1 on Saturday at The Hive thanks to a Roman Malinik brace and goals from Aidan Doughty, Stuart Mogg and Ben Paynter.
But Bees could not follow it up on Sunday, taking a 2-0 lead at London Raiders through Paynter and Shaun Thompson, only to lose 4-2 and suffer a fifth straight away defeat.
They will be expected to get back on the winning trail on the road in their only game this weekend, at Invicta on Sunday (5.15pm).
“I thought we played two good games last weekend but only one result went in our favour,” said Sheppard.
“Danny Milton enjoyed two good games in net.
“This weekend we’re away from home and although Invicta are beneath us in the table we’re well aware we need to approach this game with the right attitude and play to our best.”
Bracknell sit third in the NIHL South 1 table, four points off the top, but have played more games than any other side in the top half.
