FIVE ON FIVE, we’re playing as well as any team in the league, but it’s frustrating not to close out games when we’re leading.
That’s what happened last Sunday, in our away fixture against London Raiders.
We’re deep into the season now and like most teams find ourselves having to deal with injuries. At the moment Joe Baird and Ryan Sutton are missing games.
We’re having to play with a four-man defence which can be tiring. But we had a two-goal lead at the end of the first period and should have come away with a win.
This weekend, we only have one game, away to Invicta. A win is important to put an end to a run of away losses.
We beat Invicta on home ice on Saturday. There’s always a special atmosphere on School Zone nights. It was great to hear some of these new young fans being interviewed during the interval.
We also saw Grace perform one of her routines from” Aladdin”, the ice show which is playing this week in the Hive. More fun for the whole family.
Then we look forward to games against Swindon. They have visited us twice so far and both games have gone to overtime. We’ve got back-to-back games, away on the 22nd and at home on the 23rd. It’s going to be another School Zone evening – the ideal way for families to get into the holiday mood, as both teams play fast, exciting hockey.
We have also arranged to play two matches over the New Year, to raise money for the Young Epilepsy charity. Make a note in your 2019 diary for January 2nd.
