Reading celebrate going up

Reading will face Manchester United at Old Trafford in the FA Cup third round.

In a repeat of 2016/17 draw, the Royals will make the trip up north to face the Premier League giants in the first weekend of January.

Jaap Stam’s Reading lost 4-0 on that occasion against Jose Mourinho’s side thanks to goals from Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

Man Utd also hosted Reading in the FA Cup in 2013, edging past them 2-1 despite a Jobi McAnuff strike.

In 20 all-time meetings between the sides, Reading have won just once which came way back in 1927, but they did draw at Old Trafford in this competition in 2007 to earn a replay at the Mad Stad.
