RESIDENTS at a Wokingham care home enjoyed a magical afternoon of creativity, crafting their own illuminated lanterns during a special workshop led by Tracy of craft business Craft N Beats.
Tracyguided the West Oak Care Home participants step-by-step, helping them to create beautiful black card lanterns decorated with delicate fairy and bird cut-outs and butterflies.
Completed with a ribbon to hang it up, each lantern was fitted with battery powered fairy lights to bring the residents’ designs to life.
The activity proved to be a huge hit, with many residents proudly displaying their handiwork afterwards.
Resident Janet said: “I enjoyed the workshop and the lanterns are very nice.
“I have mine hung up in my room and I particularly like the glittery butterfly on top.”
West Oak offers a programme designed to keep residents active, and provides a daily choice of physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
General manager, Louise Jones said: “It was a delight to welcome Tracy from Craft N Beats to our home.
“Tracy brings so much joy and warmth to her classes, with her encouragement and reassurance.
“It was a lovely afternoon for our residents to enjoy, and all the lanterns looked stunning.”
