The magic of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup is back this Sunday, and for two of our sides in Wokingham borough the long and winding road to cup glory begins in earnest.
The early rounds of the 2026/27 campaign promise some scintillating local storylines as the grassroots tiers of the English women’s football pyramid take centre stage.
Beyond the prestige of the competition, there is a handy £1,000 winner’s prize pot on the line this weekend, while the defeated teams will collect £400 in prize money.
Ashridge Park will be absolutely desperate to replicate the heroics of their incredible FA Cup runs in recent years. To do so, they’ll have to navigate a tough opening test as they welcome Slough Town to Cantley Park for the preliminary round, 2pm kick-off.
Fans will fondly remember Ashridge upsetting the odds to reach the third qualifying round in the past.
With confidence high in the camp, supporters will be eager to see the squad set the tone for another giant-killing autumn.
Should Ashridge progress on Sunday, a matchup against either Marlborough Town or Barton United awaits in the first qualifying round this September.
Finchampstead will host Whitchurch United in the preliminary round, hoping to harness the energy of their support to launch another memorable cup run.
Should they successfully navigate this opening test against Whitchurch, Finch already knows its fate: a tricky away trip to Corsham Town awaits in the first qualifying round on September 6.
Despite being the home club, Finchampstead will play their match at Arbour Park in Slough due to sharing the Memorial Park with cricket.
