InstaGroup – Loft insulation with InstaGroup.

At InstaGroup, our customers come first. We want to make sure you have all the knowledge needed, to confidently go ahead with insulating your home.

Loft insulation is like a thermal blanket. As warm air rises from the rooms below, the insulation quilt keeps the heat inside, making the whole house feel warmer. You’ll notice the benefits of Loft insulation right away, and could see your energy bills reduce by hundreds of pounds a year, depending on the size of your property.

Details that matter

Before your installation, we will complete a home energy assessment that will check loft access and consider your needs for storage or living space.

During the assessment, the surveyor will offer solutions to make sure your insulation works at its best. This could include draught-proofing areas where we spot a ‘cold’ issue, and checking any pipes or tanks that need insulating. We’ll look after your home’s all-important ventilation too, adding vents for essential airflow.

Once this assessment has been completed and you are happy to proceed, InstaGroup will assign you a dedicated contact, who will keep you fully informed, help to co-ordinate work and make sure everything runs smoothly. Your InstaGroup contact will let you know about the progress of your installation and advise you if there are any delays.

Pre-Installation

Prior to the installation, you will be advised to ensure installers have safe access to the loft hatch and the ladder is secure. The loft needs to be completely cleared out of any items you may have stored up there, to ensure safe workspace. We also ask that there is good sufficient lighting in the loft so it is safe to move around, and the necessary work can be carried out.

Our experienced team of installers will arrive on time, with the insulation materials specified by the surveyor (All the insulation materials we use are BBA-approved.)  All workers at your property will have identification badges which should be visible to you.

Mid-Installation

There are a few things to be aware of, once the installers begin their work:

  • The insulation (in most cases) will be laid covering the joists to give maximum heat protection.
  • Downlights in place (non-LED) will need covers (these can be provided and installed by InstaGroup if required).
  • Any high voltage cables and extractor outlets will be visible after the install.
  • Water tanks and pipes will be insulated where required if quoted for.
  • Ventilation will be added. Lat vents will be within the felt of the roof if available.
  • Boarding, if quoted for by InstaGroup, will involve extending joists and encapsulating insulation. This will maximise heat retention and allow you to safely store belongings in your loft.

Installation can be as quick as 1-2 hours, depending on the size of the loft or roof space.

Post-Installation

Once finished, the installers will remove all packaging, leaving the area tidy. A loft declaration will be stapled to a joist along with safety warnings. Finally, A loft insulation guarantee (if arranged with your surveyor) will be sent electronically and by mail, to be kept with the deeds of the property.
