A BOOKLIST aimed at helping children with their mental health has been released, writes Daisy Hanson.
Focusing on tackling issues such as grief and bullying, Wokingham Borough Council and The Reading Agency created the collection of 33 books to help local families.
Coinciding with the start of Children’s Mental Health Week, which runs until Sunday, Read Well for Children aims to help young people aged seven to 11.
Karen Napier, CEO of The Reading Agency, said the books are intended to “support all children, including the one-in-eight who have been diagnosed with a mental health condition”.
It is hoped to give them the tools to overcome the minefields of mental wellbeing by encouraging them to open up to their family and friends.
The Wokingham Library also held a Relax Kids session on Tuesday, February 4, where families learnt skills including how to stay calm and build self-esteem.
The Read Well for Children list is available from Wokingham Borough Libraries.
