AS PART of Spring Back to Wokingham, Wokingham Town Council is running a fun Discovery Trail for children.
Children can pick up an entry form from Wokingham Library or any participating business, then enjoy hunting down a total of 26 beautifully decorated plaques, each displaying a letter, which have been placed in participating businesses across the town centre.
Matching each letter to the correct business name they can then submit their completed form into a special post box at Wokingham Library.
Participating businesses are: Wokingham Décor, Coast to Coast, Poundstretcher, Mountain Warehouse, Maya Refillables, Waterstones, Antique Rose, De Novo Velo, MiMi, Giftology, Clarks, Flower Corner, Joy Cafė, Feather & Sole, Edinburgh Wool, Robert Dyas, Little Leapers, Pops & Flo, R Young Art Gallery, Funky Flowers, Stitchery Do, Peacock Interiors, Fiona Parry, Luckys Diner, Everyman Cinema, and Wokingham Library.
The first 10 correct entries (to be drawn on June 9) will each win a prize, with Dinton Activity Centre vouchers, cinema tickets and bowling vouchers all up for grabs.
Cllr Mark Ashwell, executive member for economic development, sport and leisure, said: “We’re excited to bring more free family fun to Wokingham town centre this half term.
“From getting creative and joining in with performances to exploring the Discovery Trail, there’ll be plenty for children and families to enjoy together.
“Events like this support local businesses and showcase what Wokingham has to offer.
“We hope everyone has a great time.”
The trail plaques have been designed and decorated by schoolchildren and local community groups from across Wokingham Borough.
After the trail, the plaques will be displayed at Dinton Pastures for visitors to enjoy.
A spokesperson said: “Wokingham town centre is set to come alive this half term with a fantastic programme of free family activities as part of our Spring Back to Wokingham celebrations.
“We’re delighted to be working alongside our wonderful partners at Wokingham Borough Council and multiple award-winning Reading Rep Theatre to bring something creative, colourful and a little different to the town.
“The fun begins on the first Saturday of half term with our Discovery Trail, featuring beautifully designed plaques created by talented children from schools and social clubs across Wokingham Borough.
“It’s a lovely way to celebrate local creativity while encouraging families to explore the town together.”
The Discovery Trail will run from Saturday, May 23 through to Saturday, June 6.
