Downward dogs and mindfulness were among the many relief methods practised at a special yoga event on Saturday, May 11.
To celebrate the opening of their new studio, Sarvanga Yoga and Meditation welcomed all abilities to join them for a soothing day of family, adult, and meditation workshops.
Rebecca James, yoga teacher and studio owner, was delighted by the success of the event. She said: “The day went really well.
“It was so nice to be able to share our new, larger space, with both members and those trying yoga for the first time.”
This isn’t the only time they’ll be inviting new faces to join them. This Wednesday and Saturday the school are running free outdoor classes at Langborough Recreation Ground.
Sarvanga yoga offers a variety of classes including online via Skype.
The group also offers Somatics sessions designed to help relieve chronic tension and pain, and yoga for expectant mothers.
Rebecca said that the discipline had many benefits: “Yoga is a way to take time out from your day-to-day life and look after your body.
“It’s a peaceful practice designed to relieve the body of stress or anxiety in a way that is physical but very different to other sport or gym routines.”
In addition to weekly classes, the organisation run courses for children and teenagers during half-term.
