Reading FC came from behind to secure a 2-1 win at Hull City on Saturday afternoon in what was the Royals’ last match before the World Cup break.

Jacob Greaves’ ninth minute goal was cancelled out by Yakou Meite, who turned home a Hoilett corner, ensuring the Royals went into the break on level terms.

The game looked to be petering out to a draw but a 94th minute Ryan Longman own goal gave Paul Ince’s men all three points.

Dean Bouzanis 6: Made a fantastic save to deny Figueiredo early on and claimed the ball well, particularly in the second half. A mix-up with Mbengue could have been more costly on a different day.

Junior Hoilett 6: Got forward and dealt with the threat offered by Slater as well as he could. Was heavily involved in the move which led to Reading’s equaliser.

Andy Yiadom 5: Worked tirelessly but never seemed on top of Hull’s forwards coming in from the left. Barely had an opportunity to get forward.

Tom Holmes 6: Was not the youngster’s easiest test, but dealt with the challenge presented by Hull’s front line. Put a foot in whenever necessary in what was a typically committed performance.

Amadou Mbengue 7: Grew into the game and utilised his pace well to cut out Hull’s advances. Was solid in the challenge too, not giving the Tigers an inch.

Baba Rahman 5: Played in a couple of teasing deliveries but would like to have seen the wing back offer more of a threat going forward.

Tyrese Fornah 5: A quiet afternoon from the youngster. Worked hard albeit with little end product. Had a speculative shot at goal which was saved at the end of the first half.

Jeff Hendrick 5: Seemed to be chasing shadows for large periods of the game. Did not add much incision to attacks and often played backwards when a more adventurous option was available.

Tom Ince 5: Went about his business quietly. Had a few sighters at goal but was not at his brilliant best. A quality delivery into the box fell perfectly to Carroll who was able to force the winner.

Yakou Meite 6: Bundled home Reading’s equaliser through sheer desire, becoming Reading’s all-time top scorer in the Championship. Did not get a lot of joy otherwise.

Shane Long 6: His industry in chasing down a lost cause ultimately created Reading’s equaliser. Played the majority of the game with his back to goal. A nuisance to the Hull defenders all afternoon.

Mamadou Loum 5: Kept things simple and recycled the ball when required. Will be pleased to have come out of today unscathed and ready for a trip to Qatar.

Lucas Joao 5: Won the foul which ultimately led to the winner and was positive with the 20 minutes he was given.

Andy Carroll 5: Used his aerial ability to great effect to force the last-minute goal.

Subs: Boyce-Clarke, Abbey, Guinness-Walker, Ejaria
