A peace vigil is set be held in Wokingham next month.
A wreath of white poppies will be laid at the event organised by local members of The Peace Pledge Union and other pacifist groups.
Wokingham town council has given permission for the vigil in Howard Palmer Gardens on May 15 between 12.30 and 1.30pm to mark Conscientious Objectors Day.
David Chapman, who is helping with the vigil, said: “Refusing to kill others, in collaboration with furthering the cause of peace studies, must be the only practical and sane alternative to meeting violence with violence.”
The vigil will remember all who refuse to kill or torture despite threats from their governments.
There will be periods of silence and the chance for attenders to say a few words or read short pieces of prose or poetry.
People of all faiths and none were welcome. Everyone can stay as long as they wish. More details are available by emailing davidchapman781@btinternet.com.
